The four square kilometres, that is Ipswich Central, breathe with an abundance of green space where residents and visitors can relax and refresh any time of the day.  Whether under the shade of a massive jacaranda in Queens Park, strolling in city centre bushland, or along the edge of the Bremer River, the outdoors is fundamental to Ipswich lifestyle.

Queens Park - 22 + hectares is more than just a park.  One of Queensland's oldest parks, this local hero is supremely elegant with enormous old trees, expansive tracts of undulating grassy areas and charming heritage pergolas and buildings.  If this were not enough, this stunning icon is also home to gorgeous Japanese-themed Nerima Gardens, a state-of-the-art playground and an excellent nature centre featuring all manner of local wildlife and farm animals to pet.  And it's all FREE.  The Ipswich Visitor Information Centre is also located in Queen's Park and is a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about Ipswich.

Limestone Park - next to Queens Park, is a brilliant space for sporting enthusiasts.  Here you'll find walking/jogging paths, playing fields, an athletics oval and the mega Doris Howell's Netball Complex.  It's from Limestone Park that Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Flights launch their early morning flights over the city and countryside.

River Heart Parklands - located on the southern bank of the Bremer River (across from Riverlink Shopping Centre), this architectural marvel literally hugs the riverbank and features scenic boardwalks, a massive water feature, interesting native plantings and interpretive signage, barbecue facilities and delightful spots to simply sit and reflect.  Opened in February 2007, the Parklands is a modern space steeped in Ipswich's historic past.

Denmark Hill Conservation Park - on this inner-city bushwalk which begins at the top of Ellenborough Street and to the right, you can start with a climb to the top of the Ipswich water tower for a 360 degree view of the city, the Scenic Rim and downtown Brisbane.   Then take a short, safe and sprightly bush walk.  This walk is among a series of six accessible Ipswich bushwalks.  You can pick up a set of brochures at the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre in Queens Park.
