Heritage

Ipswich is a city with a rich heritage and retains one of the finest collections of early colonial architecture in Queensland.  Locals love the history of their community, which can be seen in carefully restored Queenslander homes throughout Ipswich neighbourhoods, civic buildings, atmospheric old pubs and the palatial homesteads of industrialists and wealthy merchants of yesteryear.

The city's Heritage Trail Guides, available at the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre in Queens Park, will take you on a self-guided walking or driving tour through the historic city centre.  On foot you can explore and see highlights such as the classic revival of Old Town Hall, Post Office and nearby St Paul's, Queensland's oldest Anglican Church.
